Are you thinking of standing for elections as a full time or part time officer in the SU Leadership Elections?

This drop-in workshop is perfect for you to get some info on what it's like to be a student officer, what the advantages are and what you would need to do to stand.

Nominations are open on Monday 26th January and will close on Wednesday 25th February.

In the meantime, take a look at these reasons why you should stand:

  1. You want to represent the views of over 10,000 students - sounds daunting, but you'll get lots of help and support
  2. You want to be a trustee of a charity with a turnover of over £1 million a year – a huge responsibility and a great experience
  3. You want to learn more about the Higher Education sector and to get involved with discussions and training at a regional and national level
  4. You want to be a University governor – the President and the Vice President Education are full members of the Board of Governors
  5. You want to gain experience of public speaking, delivering presentations, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiating and communicating – skills all employers value
  6. You want to be able to demonstrate to potential employers that you have a diverse range of skills and experiences that have enhanced your employability - being an Executive Officer will give you plenty of different skill sets
  7. You want to have a future career in management or leadership - there aren't many careers where you can go straight in as a member of the Executive Committee
  8. You want to play a key role in influencing decisions which will affect students at the University of Worcester - you will have the power to influence change
  9. You want to be part of a hard-working team of officers and staff who want to make a positive difference to the student experience at Worcester
  10. You want a paid role which will be challenging, demanding, exciting and rewarding - every day will be different.
