The club was founded 20 years ago in 1990 by Sensei Paul Coward. In 1997 Sensei Daryll Cooper took over the club before handing it over to Sensei Richard Carter in 1999. Sensei Carter has taught the club to the present day. Sensei Ady Tredwell and Sensei Pat Rowe have also taught here at UWJC.
The club is a member of The Jitsu Foundation, which teaches the modern style of Shorinji Kan Ju Jitsu. The Jitsu Foundation is the largest single-style Jiu Jitsu organisation in Britain with over 100 clubs and several thousand active members.
Currently, there are approximately 20-30 active members training at our club twice a week.
