FVC are returning students who volunteer to help the Students’ Union in delivering our Freshers’ Week activities.
Our volunteers are expected to undertake a variety of roles.
During welcome weekend we need our volunteers to act as tour guides and greeters to new students. At our fairs we need help setting up and packing down tables and stalls. FVC will be involved in cash handling and data entry when selling tickets for events, NUS extra cards and membership fees.
As Freshers’ Week is our busiest time of the year we expect our volunteers to be proactive, display initiative and be hard working. We will train all of our volunteers to undertake the roles, so prior experience isn’t necessary.
Training takes place on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th September and you must attend one of these sessions.
Our volunteers can expect to gain many skills during Freshers’ Week such as improved communication and confidence. You will get experience of team-work and independent initiative. Above all you will have a great time!
Also, of the hours you volunteer can be logged in your v-record in order to gain a volunteering award.
Students must be available to work a minimum of three shifts over Freshers’ Week from Saturday 14th September to Sunday 22nd September 2013.
Shifts are negotiable and some volunteers choose to work over and above the required minimun, somethimes we have to force them to go home!
