Hi everyone,
My name is Sophie Glenny and I am pleased to be your Vice President Student Activities. I am from Manchester and came to Worcester to study B.Sc. Sports Coaching Science in Disability Sport. I have always been involved in the Students’ Union over the past three years of my degree by taking an active part in the Ladies’ Football Committee. Over the years I took on two roles within the Committee; in my second year I was one of four social secretaries, and in my final year I was fortunate enough to be the captain of the performance team. This gave me two different insights and roles within the club and the Students’ Union.
I ran for office because I have a great interest in the future of sports, societies and fundraising at Worcester. The experience that I have both received and witnessed from the Students’ Union over the three years has differed and varied which enabled me to form my own plans of what I think will benefit Worcester students.
My aims for the following year are:
- Maintain a good relationship between the Students’ Union and the University and encourage the acknowledgment and promotion of sports and societies successes around the University.
- Help broaden the promotion of societies to encourage more participants and attendance at their incredible events.
- Encourage more intermural games within sports to help raise for charity/fundraise and develop partnerships and relationships between teams.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in this role and I cannot wait to meet so many new people whilst continuing to grow and support the current students at Worcester.
