National Union of Students (NUS)
We are affiliated to NUS, the fee for which is 2.5% of our annual block grant, 2% going to NUS UK and 0.5% going to NUS Charity.
Through NUS Charity, we benefit from:
- Communities of practice for our staff team
- Training opportunities
- Cheaper prices for products in The Hangar as part of the NUS purchasing consortium
Through NUS UK, we benefit from and participate in:
- Officer training
- National Conferences
- National campaigns and action
British Universities and Colleges Sport
BUCS is the national governing body which oversees sport within UK Higher Education. Through BUCS, students from member institutions compete in a variety of competitions including league, cup, and championship fixtures.
Affiliation to BUCS and other sport-specific governing bodies is a mandatory requirement for any teams looking to compete in BUCS fixtures. Affiliation allows the individuals/teams concerned to be adequately insured, ensures that competition standards, rules, and regulations are standardised, legally protects individuals competing, and grants them access to opportunities, funding, and advice.
