Plastic is a problem because it takes hundreds of years to break down, contributing to pollution in oceans and landfills, harming wildlife, and disrupting ecosystems.

Plastic-Free Month is a month-long initiative aimed at raising awareness about the environmental impact of plastic waste and encouraging individuals to reduce their plastic consumption. By taking part, we challenge ourselves to find alternatives to single-use plastics, which take hundreds of years to decompose and often harm wildlife and ecosystems.
Which plastic will you commit to eradicate this year?
At Worcester Students' Union, we support Plastic-Free Month by:
- Promoting workshops and resources to increase student knowledge and skills, organising activities, and providing tools to help students reduce plastic usage. Follow us on social media.
- Encouraging the purchase of reusable water bottles and promoting Caulibox reusable food containers on campus.
- Highlighting local businesses and suppliers committed to reducing plastic in their products and packaging through our all student email.
- Offering Team Worc points and volunteer hours recognition to students who participate in river clean-ups.
- Having clear, transparent guidance for hosting meetings and events at the Union.
