What type of action is needed to tackle climate change?
There are four main approaches to climate change.
- Mitigation focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Adaptation involves adjusting to climate change impacts.
- Regeneration emphasises restoring and revitalising ecosystems.
- Restoration aims to repair ecosystems damaged by climate change.
“I want to enhance the sustainability efficiency on campus, carry on with this year’s cost of living campaign and support students with off-campus housing.
I want to have scrap paper points across campuses to save and reuse single-use paper.
I want to start a ‘bring your own mug’ scheme which offers a discount to people who bring their recyclable mugs to coffee shops on campus.
I also want the university to set up a platform where leaving students can donate their items (such as pots and pans) and new incoming students can use them instead of buying new ones if they want.”
